Advisors

Tau Kappa Epsilon Advisor Kevin Fahey present with TKE chapter along with Todd Sullivan, Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life
What is an advisor? What do advisors do?
Advisors are extremely important assets to the chapter's management and success. Advisors provide guidance and support to the chapter and chapter officers in several areas. It is important that the advisors foster the development of not only the chapter as a whole but also the development of the individual members. The advisor serves as a source of continuity to the organization as the membership changes. An advisor should be familiar with the policies and regulations of the national organization, University of Connecticut, and state and federal laws.
What support is available to advisors?
There are many resources and support services available to assist advisors. Not only do the national organizations provide support to advisors, but the University of Connecticut maintains several resources. The Department of Student Activities' Involvement Office is the main resource for advisement of student organizations on campus. The Involvement Office, which includes the Greek Life staff, is actively involved in the support, training, and development of both advisors and student organization. Also, the Department of Student Activities has issued a Student Organization Advisor Handbook as a guide for student organizations.
